Fish Cafe @ Kerrisdale
Labels: Fish Cafe, Kerrisdale, Sea FoodSorry about the lack of posts! Queenie and I have been both quite busy; even though we still go out and eat we haven’t really had the time to write the blog posts =S. From now on I’m going to keep the posts shorter so that I get content up sooner!
A little while ago Queenie and I were at Kerrisdale looking for a quick dinner. Wanting to try something new, we came across Fish Cafe in Kerrisdale.
Fish Cafe is relatively small, both inside and out. It wasn’t very busy when we arrived at 6pm but the place quickly filled up.
Prices are a bit on the steep side and the menu is pretty straight forward; essentially fish, appetizers, and salads.
We started with the full order of Calamari [$14.95]. They have the option of grilled or fried. We ordered the deep fried one. We also had it with the tartar sauce.
For $14.95 I was expecting this dish to be larger. The squid was very fresh but it wasn’t as crispy as I hoped. Tartar sauce went quite well with it. Not the best calamari I’ve had but it ranks pretty high up.
For the entre, Queenie and I shared a 2pc order of Fish & Chips [$11.95].
The two pieces of fish were heavily battered but were fried in a way the exterior very light. It’s not a hard crunch you might expect when looking at it. The texture is similar to the chinese-styled donuts “yao lei so”.
The fish on the inside tasted very nice and seemed quite fresh. However, overall the two pieces of fish were quite oily. Queenie couldn’t finish hers b/c of that.
The true delicacy of this meal were the fries. These were some of the best fries I’ve ever had! Very dense on the inside while maintaining just the right amount of crisp on the outside. These huge pieces of fries went very well with both ketchup and tartar sauce.
Pricey but if you’re looking for some fresh seafood w/o travelling too far, Fish Cafe seems like a pretty good place to go.
